4 TOP TIPS TO GETTING BIKINI BODY READY
1) Self Love & Confidence
Probably not the first thing you were expecting to read in a bikini body ready blog but I think this has to be the most important thing of all. Regardless of your shape and size you will NEVER be happy or feel bikini body ready unless you can truly love who you are as a person first. Over the years this has been a huge journey for me so it’s a lot easier said than done. If you truly want to feel so good in your own skin every day, it comes to being able to look at yourself in the mirror and boldly say the words “You are beautiful” even when you don’t feel like it – and that starts now! There was a point in my life a few years ago in a room full of people where someone put a mirror in front of my face and told me to tell myself “I love you”. As soon as this happened I broke down in tears. I share this because quite often people look at my profile and think the confidence and body all just came naturally but it really didn’t. The fact is, it took me years. So my tip for self-love is to dive into personal development of some kind. Read books, listen to podcasts, do some sort of meditation or yoga for relaxation and surround yourself with people that encourage and support you! You can never gain healthy self-love just from people complimenting you. It has to come from within YOU!
Abs are made in the kitchen!! Yasss it’s true! I truly believe that getting that bikini body is 80% what you are fuelling your body with and 20% exercise. During the summer I barely set foot in a gym. I spend most of my time being active surfing, skating, bike riding, running and fuelling my body with top quality nutrients. Of course, still have the cheeky chocolate or wine but it’s all about balance, not punishing yourself! Experiment new healthy options and see how you go, and never be too shy to ask for help.
Use a plate planner for healthy meal ideas, eat lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, have lots of protein (chicken, fish, turkey, tofu, eggs, etc.) and plan ahead! I’m obsessed with smoothies for breakfast and I like to eat my biggest meal at lunch time so that my body has plenty of time to digest it and to give me lots of energy to finish my day!
Personally I’m obsessed with doing abs and booty exercises. I find them fun, easy and most of it you can do with just your body weight! All my cardio comes from being active as I mentioned above. One thing I am super passionate about is helping girls to feel confident in the gym or to be able to do exercises anywhere at any time including their bedrooms or in a lot of cases for myself – a hotel room. So many people limit themselves because they feel like they have to be in a gym. One of my biggest tips is to just do something every day. It doesn’t have to be an hour out of your day, it could be 10 minutes doing a quick high intensity workout and then you’re done! It’s all about consistency and creating habits rather than just going to the gym when it’s convenient.
Personally I still need to get so much better at this! But I am completely obsessed with coconut water! It’s so hydrating and delicious. I think everyone already knows this but we’re supposed to drink around 2 litres of water per day!! That’s a lot of water and it’s not including all that sea water you may have swallowed after getting dunked by a wave in the ocean hehe. I think this one speaks for itself, but keeping hydrated helps the body to naturally cleanse out nasties, helps your skin glow and leaves your body feeling great!
